The challenges surrounding society are becoming increasingly diverse, and their impact continues to grow.
Companies are expected to address these challenges through their business and strengths, providing value to society, contributing to sustainable development, and growing themselves.
Takamiya has been involved in business activities with a focus on "safety," "environment," and "constructability" long before the emphasis on ESG initiatives.
We contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through our business activities and strive to create an environment within the company where diverse talents can work comfortably.
At the core of our efforts is our corporate philosophy of "love."

About Mission Statement

The motivation and compassion that arise from "love yourself," "love others," and "love the company" serve as the driving force for growth.

The world we live in is constantly in motion, driven by the intricate economies of various nations and the countless activities of businesses. Each individual company is built upon the unwavering efforts of the people within it. So, what motivates people? Their own ambitions. Their compassion for their families. Isn't that where it all begins? We believe in making this the driving force behind our corporate growth. Our philosophy is "Love."

Takamiya's Value Creation Process

Takamiya, anticipating the constant changes in the era, has consistently transformed its business portfolio and structure with a forward-looking approach, generating new business models. Moving forward, the company will continue this process, aiming to enhance sustainable corporate value by offering products and services that address societal challenges.

In addition to the risks and opportunities that could have a significant impact on its medium- to long-term management strategies, in August 2023, the Company identified eight material issues that are important for its stakeholders and that could have a major impact on its management and business activities. We will continue to take long-term initiatives to resolve social issues and meet stakeholder expectations through our future business activities, leading to sustainable enhancement of corporate value.

Identification Process

STEP1 Extraction of social issue items

To identify our material issues, we extracted social issue items to examine. While referring to international guidelines in the area of sustainability including MSCI, SASB, GRI, and the SDGs, as well as information disclosed by benchmark companies, we extracted social issue items based mainly on relevancy to our business activities and challenges faced by the society and the construction industry. We assessed these social issue items based on their level of impact on and level of importance for our business and society. We then created a list of material issue candidates based on the items deemed to have a high level of impact and importance.

STEP2 Questionnaire for officers and other stakeholders to assess the level of importance

Using the material issue candidates we listed up in STEP 1, we conducted hearings in the form of questionnaires for officers and other stakeholders closely related to the Company on their expectations for each issue item and their judged level of importance. We also interviewed other stakeholders including employees, clients, institutional investors, and local administrations, seeking information on which of each of the issues should be prioritized, alongside the reasons why, based on their relevance to the Company and their impact on society.

STEP3 Creation of material issue candidates based on the results of hearings

Based on the results of the hearings from STEP 2, we assessed each issue item based on the two axes of its level of importance for the company and its level of importance for our stakeholders. We then integrated and assessed their overall importance to put together a final material issue proposal and create a material issue map.

STEP4 Approval by the Board of Directors

The final material issue proposals created in STEP 3 were then reported to the Management Committee and the Board of Directors, alongside the purpose for their selection and the selection process. Following a resolution, they were decided as official material issues of the Company. Moving forward, we will regularly review these material issues in line with changes in industry trends and new ESG issues.

Eight Materiality Factors for Sustainable Growth

Environmentally friendly operations

To realize a sustainable society and sustainable corporate growth, it is imperative to pursue businesses that that take environmental impacts into consideration. We believe this is to minimize the environmental burdens and risk through our corporate activities, and to contribute to the sustainable development of society.

Creation and promotion of products and services that contribute to the achievement of a recycling-based society

We believe this is important as it is necessary that we ensure effective use of limited resources to achieve a sustainable society. The construction industry is facing challenges such as labor shortages and the deterioration of social infrastructure. We will introduce products and services that address these challenges and aim to achieve a recycling-based society.

Responsible procurement and respect for human rights

We believe this is for choosing environmentally conscious raw materials and protecting the rights of workers in their production process. Products manufactured with the right materials, processes, and environments have high reliability. By promoting these products, we aim to achieve a sustainable and fair society.

Reinforcement of diverse personnel to support our sustainable growth

We believe this is important as diverse talents and capabilities are essential for sustainable corporate growth. Based on our Mission Statement of "Love," we conduct people-centered management under a Management Philosophy that views human resources as the essence of corporate strength, and we will respect, reinforce, and develop diversity.

Creation of attractive working environments that ensure both physical and mental health

We believe this will enable us to enhance worker motivation, happiness, and productivity through the creation of better working environments. To enhance safety not only for our employees but for workers at construction sites as well, we are also implementing training such as scaffolding safety education.

As our products are used on construction sites, their safety is directly linked to the safety of workers. We believe this is important as it is essential to enhance product safety to preemptively prevent industrial and other worker accidents and to ensure our products can be used with confidence.

Sophistication of corporate governance

The support of our stakeholders is paramount, if we are to enhance our corporate value over the medium to long term. To gain the support of our stakeholders, it is essential that we ensure highly transparent corporate management, respect the rights of our stakeholders, prevent organizational fraud or misconduct, and ensure fairness in decision-making and operations in corporate management.

Information security and privacy management

We hold a vast amount of data on customers and various construction sites, and we will ensure thorough management of large volumes of data as we make further utilize of digital tools and promote DX. Information security and privacy management are essential to ensure that our services can be used with confidence.
